Syrian FM in Baghdad for talks with Iraqi leaders: TV

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Mualem arrived in Baghdad on an official visit on Thursday for talks with Iraqi leaders, the official television reported.

Mualem was received by his Iraqi counterpart, Ibrahim al-Jaafari, at Baghdad airport and is expected to meet with Iraqi leaders to discuss bilateral ties and latest developments in the region, the state-run Iraqiya channel said.

Iraq has maintained close ties with the Syrian government led by President Bashar al-Assad. Endit
