Germany's benchmark DAX index little changed

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Thursday was little changed and closed at 10,208 points.

The European Central Bank on Thursday decided to leave the interest rates unchanged and its president Mario Draghi said the interest rates will remain at current or even lower levels for a long time. The DAX index advanced by 3.56 points.

Bayer topped the list of risers with an increase of 2.19 percent. Volkswagen rose by 1.78 percent. The utilities company RWE advanced by 1.36 percent. Deutsche Lufthansa added 0.85 percent. Deutsche Post went up by 0.82 percent.

Muenchener Rueckversicherungs-Gesellschaft, an insurance and reinsurance company, fell by 2.18 percent. Fresenius Medical Care dropped by 0.76 percent. Fresenius slipped by 0.71 percent. Merck, a science and technology company, lost 0.64 percent. SAP went down by 0.63 percent.

Bayer was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 282.6 million euros (315.11 million U.S. dollars). Endit
