Armenian government approves visa-free regime agreement with Iran

The Armenian government approved a visa-free regime agreement with Iran, Armenpress reported on Thursday, quoting Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan.

"The signing of such an agreement stems from the necessity of developing bilateral relations, as well as economic, trade and other affairs between Armenia and Iran," noted Shavarsh Kocharyan.

He also noted that the goal of the agreement was to regularize the regime of visits of citizens of both states. According to the agreement, the citizens of both Armenia and Iran will be able to reside without visa for 90 days within the period of 180 days.

Both sides consider that the signing of such an agreement will result in the increase of the tourism level from Armenia and Iran. Moreover it will create a favorable terms for usual visits of the citizens of both states.

Previously, Iranian citizens had to obtain a visa costing about 7 U.S. dollars to visit Armenia, while Armenian citizens would pay 45 dollars for Iranian visa. Enditem
