Xinhua, May 31, 2016 Adjust font size:

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a five-nation tour of Afghanistan, Qatar, Switzerland, the U.S. and Mexico next week, sources said on Monday.

"Modi's first stop will be Afghanistan on June 4, where he will visit Herat to launch the Salma Dam funded by India. From there, he will go to Qatar on June 5 for a bilateral visit," the sources said.

In Doha, the Indian prime minister will hold talks with Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and economic ties are on the agenda, they said.

His next stop would be Switzerland, where Modi is likely to raise the black money issue with Swiss authorities, before flying to the United States.

"Modi will be in the U.S. on June 7 and 8. He will also be addressing a joint session of the U.S. Congress on June 8," the sources said.

The Indian prime minister will wrap up his five-nation visit by visiting Mexico during the last leg of his tour, before returning home on June 10, the sources added. Endit
