Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari on Monday left for a five-day tour of Morocco and Tunisia in a bid to bolster diplomatic and bilateral ties.

This is an Indian vice president's first visit to both north African nations in the past five decades and came in the aftermath of the India-Africa Summit held in Delhi in October last year.

Ansari's first stop will be Morocco where he will be till June 1 and during the last leg of his tour, he will visit Tunisia from June 2 to 3.

During his two-nation tour, the Indian vice president is expected to discuss with leaders of the countries issues of terrorism, United Nations Security Council expansion and investments.

He will be in Rabat at the invitation of Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane and both would launch the India-Morocco Chamber of Commerce and Industry there, the Indian External Affairs Ministry said.

King of Morocco Mohammed VI had come to the Indian capital during the India-Africa Summit and then Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee visited that country in 1999. Endit
