Spain's consumer confidence fell slightly by 2.6 points from February to March to 92.6 points, indicating a negative perception of Spain's economic situation, the Sociological Research Center (CIS) reported on Monday.
The Consumer Confidence Indicator (CCI) ranges between 0 and 200 points, with ratings over 100 points considered positive perceptions of the economic situation and ratings below that figure indicating a negative perception.
The CCI has been falling for three consecutive months. In January it fell by 8.3 points and in February it fell by 3.9 points.
The indicator of people's expectations about the future fell by 3.1 points from February to March to a total of 99.6 points, while the indicator of the current economic situation decreased by 2.1 points to 85.6 points.
According to the survey, 27.7 percent of people questioned believed the economic situation would improve in the upcoming six months while 31.3 percent believed the situation would worsen. A total of 32.5 percent believed the employment situation would be worse in six months while 29.4 percent thought the situation would improve.
The CIS conducts around 1,400 interviews for its survey and the results help predict consumer behavior for the following months, which also helps predict the performance of the economy. Endit
