Saudi Arabia bans Iranian airline "Mahan Air"

Xinhua, April 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Saudi Arabian civil aviation announced on Monday the decision to suspend its permission for Iranian airline "Mahan Air," Sabq online news reported.

The final decision includes banning the airline from entering Saudi airports or crossing its air traffic.

The aviation cited the reason for a number of registered violations by the airline related to safety measures.

Saudi Arabia cut ties with Iran in January, citing Iranian interference in its and other Arab countries' affairs. Shortly after that, the country announced the cut of air traffic with Iran.

Saudi Arabia has been opposing the Iranian political stance and involvement in Yemen and Syria, as well as its nuclear activities. Endit
