Benin's constitutional court confirms Talon president-elect

Benin's constitutional court on Friday provided the final results of march presidential election and confirmed the victory of Patrice Talon at the second round poll held March 20.

Mr. Talon obtained over 2.03 million votes cast, about 65.37 percent.

His defeated challenger Lionel Zinsou, candidate of the ruling party, recorded more than 1.07 million votes cast, representing 34.63 percent.

Theodore Holo, chairman of the Constitutional court, on Friday said more than 3.1 million votes cast.

Patrice Talon, cotton tycoon, will succeed the outgoing president Yayi Boni whose two term office ends on April 6, 2016. Endit
