Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao met with Laurent Fabius, chief of the Constitutional Council of France, on Friday, pledging to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Li said China-France ties play an important and special role in the relationship between China and the West.

Li hopes both sides will continue to strengthen strategic mutual trust, integrate development strategies and promote cooperation in the economy, trade, technology, people-to-people exchanges, the judiciary, the Belt and Road Initiative and global governance.

French President Francois Hollande formally proposed the nomination of Fabius to the Constitutional Council in February this year. Fabius is a former French foreign minister.

Fabius praised China's support of the Paris Climate Conference last year and expressed his willingness for more cooperation. Endi
