Tokyo shares end higher on weaker yen

Tokyo shares ended the trading Friday higher on a weaker yen and the move of buying ahead of the end of the fiscal 2015.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 110.42 points, or 0.65 percent, higher from Thursday at 17,002.75.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 11.44 points, or 0.84 percent, to 1,366.05.

Gainers were led by insurance, transportation equipment, and machinery issues.

The day's turnover was about 1,774.6 billion yen (around 15.69 billion U.S. dollars). Endit
