EU meeting on Brussels attacks possibly on Thursday: Dutch Minister

Dutch Minister of Security and Justice Ard van der Steur said on Tuesday evening that the Dutch presidency of the European Union will organise a ministerial meeting of the European Union to discuss the attacks in Brussels.

"At the request of Belgium the Dutch presidency will organize a ministerial meeting to discuss the attack. possibly Thursday morning," said the Dutch minister on Twitter. The Netherlands holds the rotating EU presidency in the first half of 2016.

Earlier in the morning, Dutch Prime minister Mark Rutte told the press after a cabinet meeting that the Netherlands stays in close contact with Germany, Belgium and France in case additional measures are required. "In addition, as EU president we stay in close contact with our permanent representative in Brussels," said Rutte. Endit
