Thai industrial entrepreneurs urged to penetrate Vietnamese market

Xinhua, March 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

Thailand has launched a fresh campaign for industrial goods export to Vietnam, an official said here on Monday.

Somchai Harnhiran, director general of the Ministry of Industry's Department of Industrial Promotion, said Monday that Thai small-and medium-sized enterprises are being encouraged to manufacture and export varied goods to the Vietnamese market, Thailand's 4th largest trade partner in the ASEAN region.

The Vietnamese market, which has purchased 12 billion U.S. dollars worth of Thai goods in a year, has reportedly offered ample opportunity for the Thai products to penetrate and expand, including electronic items, construction materials, motorcycle parts, cosmetic products, garment, leather products and coffee beans.

Thai SME operators are strongly suggested to develop their products' qualities and designs as well as promote their brand names in the Vietnamese market, according to the department head.

Vietnam is believed to be looking for diversity in designs and brand names for varied industrial goods, including those from Thailand, he said, adding that the department has readily offered to support the SME operators with its marketing promotional plans for the Vietnam-bound merchandise. Endit
