Armed men gun down female police in S. Afghanistan

Unknown armed men opened fire and killed a female police personnel in Taliban former stronghold the southern Kandahar province on Monday, provincial government spokesman, Samim Khapalwak said.

"Unidentified armed men opened fire on female police officer Fawzia in 13th police district of Kandahar city at around 09:00 a.m. local time today killing her on the spot," Khapalwak told Xinhua.

The culprits made their good escape, the official said, adding investigation has been initiated into the case.

Although, the official put the attack on the enemies of peace, a reference to the Taliban militants, the armed outfit which is against working women outside their homes has yet to make comment. Enditem
