Volvo posts sales hike in February

Xinhua, March 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Swedish automaker Volvo Cars has posted a 15-percent sales hike in February compared to the same period last year.

Sweden was the biggest market for Volvo as sales reached 35,000 units globally, with the model XC60 accounting for over a quarter of all sales, the company said in a statement.

Volvo sold some 5,200 cars in the United States in February, notching a year-on-year sales increase of 31-percent.

"February was the eighth consecutive month of double digit growth for Volvo in the United States," the carmaker added.

Volvo's sales in the US were boosted by "strong demand" for its new sports utility vehicle (SUV) XC90, its top-selling model in the country over the month.

Volvo Cars, which employs nearly 29,000 people worldwide, reached an annual sales total of more than 500,000 cars for the first time in 2015. Endit
