Germany's benchmark DAX index continues to rise

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Wednesday continued to rise and added 59.46 points.

As fear for a sluggish economy in the United States is fading away, investors turned more optimistic, according to local analysts. The blue-chip DAX index gained 0.61 percent and closed at 9,776.62 points.

Deutsche Bank topped the list of risers with an increase of 5.14 percent. Commerzbank advanced by 4.25 percent. Volkswagen climbed by 2.75 percent. BMW rose by 2.71 percent and Daimler went up by 2.63 percent.

On the other hand, adidas fell by 1.95 percent. Beiersdorf, a skin care company, plunged by 1.83 percent. Linde, an industrial gas company, lost 1.82 percent. K+S, a supplier of standard and specialty fertilizers, slipped by 1.31 percent. Fresenius Medical Care went down by 1.26 percent.

Daimler was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 304.84 million euros (around 331.42 million U.S. dollars). Endit
