Brazil, Uruguay World Cup qualifier tickets sold out

Xinhua, March 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tickets for Brazil's World Cup qualifier against Uruguay at the Arena Pernambuco in Recife later this month have sold out.

The match is the fifth qualifier ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, to be held in Russia.

All 44, 739 tickets that were put on sale by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) sold out in just four days.

According to Brazilian daily newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo, the CBF could put tickets up for resale on 5 March, should cancellations be made.

The match will mark the return of Barcelona striker Luis Suarez following a nine-game ban for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Uruguay currently sit in second place in the South American World Cup qualifying group with nine points, three behind surprise leaders Ecuador, who boast a 100 per cent record. Brazil are in third place with seven points.

National coach Dunga will name his squad for the match on Thursday. Endit
