Bayer Leverkusen's Lars Bender sidelined

Xinhua, March 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

Bayer Leverkusen skipper Lars Bender will be out of action with a torn hamstring, coach Roger Schmidt announced in a press conference on Tuesday.

Bender sustained a torn hamstring during a trainings session and will not be available before the 27th round of Bundesliga, on March 20.

Bender is seventh player on Leverkusen's injury list after Jonathan Tah, Stefan Kiessling, Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Oemer Toprak, Kevin Kampl and Charles Aranguiz.

"It is not nice that we face such a difficult situation due to so many injuries, but, I see it as a challenge. We have to fight for each point," Leverkusen's coach Roger Schmidt said.

The "Werkself" occupy the 6th place in the standings. They clash with relegation threatened Werder Bremen in the 24th round of Bundesliga on Wednesday. Endit
