Markus Feulner will undergo a surgery after suffering a cheekbone fracture, the "Fuggerstaedter" announced in an official statement on Tuesday.

Injury-hit Augsburg suffer another injury blow as midfielder Markus Feulner has to undergo a surgery after suffering a cheekbone fracture during Sunday's 1-0 win over Hannover in Bundesliga.

Feulner's absence is a setback for coach Markus Weinzierl's men, who clash with Liverpool FC in UEFA Europa League's second leg of the last 32 on Thursday.

"It is very bitter that I cannot play against Liverpool and in the coming weeks. However, I hope the surgery goes well so that I can quickly join the team again," Feulner told the club's official homepage.

The "Fuggerstaetder" occupy the 13th place in the standings. They encounter 5th placed Monchengladbach at the 23rd round in Bundesliga on Sunday. Endit
