2 policemen injured in bomb blast in N.E. India

Two policemen were injured in a bomb blast triggered by militants in the northeast Indian state Meghalaya Friday, said Indo-Asian News Service.

The incident took place in South Garo Hills district and the injured policemen have been admitted to hospital.

The policemen were attacked while they were unloading rations for police personnel at Baghmara, a district headquarter town of South Garo Hills region of the state, according to the report.

The Garo militants were suspected to be behind the attack, according to police.

About a dozen militant groups are active in India's restive northeast region engaging Indian police and security forces. Endit
