U.S. dollar mixed against other currencies

The U.S. dollar mixed against other currencies Wednesday.

On the economic front, the Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers declined 0.1 percent in December on a seasonally adjusted basis, the U.S. Labor Department said Wednesday. The index for all items less food and energy rose 0.1 percent in December, its smallest increase since August.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers,was up 0.12 percent at 99.138 in late trading.

In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.0884 dollars from 1.0917 dollars of the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.4173 dollars from 1.4179 dollars. The Australian dollar went up to 0.6920 dollars from 0.6912 dollars.

The dollar bought 116.94 Japanese yen, lower than 117.49 yen of the previous session. The dollar moved up to 1.0048 Swiss francs from 1.0025 Swiss francs, and it moved down to 1.4486 Canadian dollars from 1.4557 Canadian dollars. Endit
