China ranks as Algeria's largest supplier for third consecutive year

China has been ranked Algeria's largest supplier in 2015 for the third year in a row with 8.22 billion U.S. dollars, the Customs Department said Wednesday.

China has been crowned Algeria's largest supplier since 2013, when it managed to dethrone France. In 2014, China was Algeria's largest supplier with 8.2 billion dollars, from a total of 58.33 billion dollars of imports bill.

France ranked in the second position in 2015 with 5.42 billion dollars, Italy (4.82 billion dollars), Spain (3.93 billion dollars), Germany (3.38 billion dollars) and the United States (2.71 billion dollars).

Some 790 Chinese companies are operating in Algeria in the fields of public works and construction, in addition to energy and trade. Between 35,000 and 40,000 Chinese are working in the North African nation. Endit
