Formex Nordic interior design exhibit kicks off in Stockholm

Xinhua, January 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Nordic interior design exhibit Formex 2016 opened on Wednesday in Stockholm aiming to highlight the region's decorative trends for the coming months.

The spring edition of Formex will bring around 25,000 visitors to the Swedish capital for a four-day fair centered around the theme "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, something given," organizers said.

"This spring, we want to decorate personally and colorfully, with warmth and artistic sensitivity," read a statement from the fair, which has been running since 1960.

This year's themed exhibit would center around "geometrical games" as well as themes such as Sweden's cultural heritage, Formex said. A mix of "high and low materials" and geometric shapes would characterize the furnishings of 2016, it added.

With wood as a dominant material, authenticity would appear as a recurring theme among the around 850 exhibitors, organizers said.

Formex, which is organized twice annually, will run until Saturday at Stockholmsmassan fair center south of central Stockholm. Endit
