Israeli forces on Monday shot to death a Palestinian who stabbed and injured a woman in a Jewish settlement in the West Bank, the latest in a four-month string of violence, the Israeli military said.
The Palestinian man entered a clothing warehouse in Tekoa, south of Bethlehem, where he stabbed a pregnant woman in her 30s, a military spokesperson said.
"The terrorist was shot by security personnel at the scene," the spokesperson added, confirming his death.
A spokesman for the emergency medical services said the victim was taken to hospital in a moderate condition.
The incident came a day after a Palestinian stabbed to death an Israeli woman in the West Bank Jewish settlement of Otniel, near Hebron, before he fled the scene. The woman was identified as Dafna Meir, a 39-year-old mother of six. The military launch a manhunt after the assailant.
Meir was the 24th Israeli casualty in a wave of violence that erupted in mid-September in the West Bank, Israel, and the Gaza Strip. In the same period, at least 150 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire. According to Israel, most of them were killed while trying to carry out an attack.
Israel has been accusing the Palestinian National Authority of "inciting" the violence while the Palestinians say it is the result of 49 years of Israeli control of their lands. Enditem
