4 students wounded in school explosion near Syrian border in Turkey

Xinhua, January 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

At least four students were wounded Monday in an explosion in a middle school in southern Kilis province of Turkey near Syrian border, local CnnTurk broadcaster reported.

Mortar shell caused the explosion, private Dogan News Agency reported, saying that ambulances were reportedly dispatched to the scene.

The school and the vehicles around were damaged, said the report.

Turkey has been subject to several attacks by the Islamic State (IS) group recently. A total of 10 German tourists were killed and 17 others people injured on Jan. 12 in a suicide bombing that hit Istanbul's historic Sultanahmet Square.

Last week, Turkish army launched some 500 artillery fire and mortar fires both from Turkish territory into Syria and from Basgiqa military camp in northern Iraq to IS targets across its southeastern border, killing about 200 IS members. Endit
