Urgent: 6.0 magnitude quake jolts off Hokkaido, north Japan

An earthquake initially measured at 6.0 magnitude jolted off Japan's northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido at around 2:08 a.m. local time Tuesday, according to Japan's Meteorological Agency.
The quake, which registered at level 3 in parts of Hokkaido on Japan's seismic intensity of 7, also affected the Tohoku area, or northeast Japan, said the agency.
The epicenter was detected at 44.5 degree of north latitude and 141.3 degree of east longitude, with a depth of 260 km.
The quake posts no tsunami threat and there were no immediate reports on injuries and damage.
