Xinhua, January 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

Ukraine's annual inflation rate rose in 2015 to 43.3 percent, its record level since 1996, according to figures released by the State Statistics Service on Wednesday.

Last year, utility costs in Ukraine surged 103 percent, food prices went up 40.1 percent, while clothing and footwear costs increased by 35 percent, the agency said in a report.

In December, prices in Ukraine rose 0.7 percent on an annual basis, slowing down from 2 percent in the previous month, the report said.

The military conflict in eastern Ukraine has been a major factor driving up the inflation.

In 2014, inflation in Ukraine rose 24.9 percent, its highest level in 14 years. Endit
