2nd LD Writethru: 1 killed, 30 injured in East Pakistan's factory collapse

At least one laborer was killed and 30 others injured when roof of a ceramic factory collapsed in Pakistan's east Gujranwala district on Wednesday afternoon, local media reported.

Urdu TV channel Express reported that the factory's roof collapsed, following the explosion of boiler which triggered gas cylinder blasts in the factory.

Over 50 people were working inside the factory when the accident happened in the factory located in Sheikhupura road area of the Gujranwala district of the country's east Punjab province.

Rescue teams arrived at the accident site following the explosion and recovered the stranded laborers from the debris of the collapsed factory.

The injured people have been shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Gujranwala for treatment.

A state of emergency has been declared in the Gujranwala hospital where the doctors said that most of the people have received serious burn injuries.

The factory and two vehicles parked outside were destroyed in the boiler explosion. Enditem
