At least 11 people died and dozens were injured in severe storms and tornadoes that continued to hit parts of the southern U.S. states of Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas on Thursday.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) confirmed seven of the deaths from the severe weather that began moving through the state early Wednesday morning, which led Mississippi governor Phil Bryant to declare a state of emergency for affected areas. (U.S.-Storms-Deaths)

CAIRO -- The Arab League demanded in a ministerial meeting in Cairo on Thursday an immediate Turkish unconditional withdrawal from the Iraqi territories, the Egyptian state TV reported.

In the meeting at the level of Arab foreign ministers requested by Baghdad, Arab League Secretary-General Nabil al-Araby described the deployment of Turkish troops in Iraq as "clear violation of the international law." (AL-Turkey-Iraq)

WASHINGTON -- A gunman has been shot dead Thursday by police who responded to reports of a shooting at a mall in Charlotte, North Carolina, U.S. media reported.

The shooting resulted from an altercation involving a group of people inside the Northlake Mall, which was crowded with people on last-minute shopping for holiday gifts on the Christmas Eve, according to the reports. (U.S.-Gunman)

JERUSALEM -- An Israeli woman died and eight others are hospitalized after being infected with swine flu, a spokesperson for the Israeli Health Ministry confirmed on Thursday.

A 50-year old woman who was hospitalized at the Belinson hospital in Petah Tikva in central Israel died on the night between Wednesday and Thursday after contracting the disease, the Health Ministry said in a statement. (Isael-Swine Flu) Endi
