1st LD: Suicide car bomb in Bagram, Afghanistan inflicts casualties

A suicide car bomb that rocked Bagram airbase, 50 km north of Kabul, inflicted casualties on Monday, an official with the U.S. Forces public relation office said.

"I can confirm there are casualties but we are assessing at the moment," the official told Xinhua.

He confirmed it was a "vehicle bomb" that exploded outside Bagram airbase at 01:30 p.m. local time.

Bagram has been serving as a main U.S. military base in Afghanistan over the past 14 years.

More than 13,000 NATO-led resolute support mission with some 8,600 of them Americans are stationed in Afghanistan currently following the end of the combat mission of the alliance forces in the war-torn country in late 2014. Endit
