A senior Myanmar buddhist monks delegation left Yangon for Kunming, China on Monday to visit Yunnan Province at the invitation of Chongseng Temple, Dali of the province.

The head of the senior Buddhist monks delegation told Xinhua that he hoped the visit would strengthen the friendly relationship between Myanmar and China and enhance religious exchanges between the two countries.

Seeing off the delegation, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Hong Liang said China and Myanmar have enjoyed traditional friendship since ancient times and such friendship would be further enhanced through the visit, adding that the two countries are expected to work closely for the exchange of Buddhist culture.

During the nine-day China trip, the senior Buddhist monks delegation will also visit Beijing.

After attending Chongseng forum, they will proceed to other religious sites for further study visit. Endit
