2nd LD Writethru: Geneva lifts alert level as search for suspects linked to Paris attacks underway

Xinhua, December 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Geneva increased its level of security alert on Thursday as law enforcement personnel were actively tracking down individuals thought to be linked to the Paris terrorist attacks in November.

This follows information sent Wednesday by the confederation to law enforcement authorities in Geneva signalling that suspects were believed to be located in Geneva or in the Geneva region.

According to Geneva's Security Department, investigations are currently being carried out in collaboration with national and international security services to find the individuals in question.

While police reinforcements have been deployed on the territory, Geneva's Security Department explained that for operational reasons, no further details could be provided.

The United Nations' security has also been enhanced in light of events, with personnel carrying sub-machine guns deployed at the building's entry and in its corridors. Endit
