Rio hosts Olympic tennis test event

The Rio Olympic Tennis Centre will become the first venue in the Barra Olympic Park to stage an Olympic test event when the Brazilian Tennis Federation hosts the Correios Brasil Masters Cup on Dec. 10-12 . 

   A total of 72 competitors are taking part in Brazilian tennis's year-end finals on the 10 match courts that will be used at next year's Olympic Tennis Event, including the 10,000-seat Centre Court, according to the official ITF website. 

   The test event will allow officials from Rio 2016 and the ITF to take a look at all the facilities in competition mode, with the centre in its final stages of construction.

   The Masters will serve as a test event for both the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic tennis competitions.

   The Rio Olympic Tennis Event will be held on Aug. 6-14  2016, with the Paralympic Tennis Event taking place on Sept. 9-16.  Endi
