Tokyo shares open slightly higher on revised GDP data

Tokyo shares opened higher on Tuesday as sentiment here was boosted by a stronger-than-expected revised July-September gross domestic product data for Japan, but buying was held by declines in the overnight U.S. market.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched up 19.84 points, or 0.10 percent, from Monday to 19,717.99.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange edged down 0.64 point, or 0.04 percent, to 1,584.57. Enditem
