Xinhua, November 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

A total of 107 people were honored as China's good samaritans for November at a ceremony held in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province on Monday.

They have been recognized for helping others, acting bravely for a just cause, being honest and trustworthy, working hard, making great contributions and showing filial piety and love to their parents and family members.

The role models were selected from more than 113,000 nominees submitted by the public.

They include 152 citizens in Shandong Province who donated 54.9 liters of blood to save the life of a woman and her infant; Tang Gaoqun, a rural teacher who helped carry students across a river to attend school for 21 years in Hubei Province; and Chen Guifang, a 82-year-old doctor who continued helping patients despite having cancer in Hainan Province.

The awards were initiated in 2008 by the Central Commission for Guiding Ethic and Cultural Progress. Endi
