CPC senior official calls for closer BRICS media cooperation

Xinhua, November 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

Liu Yunshan, a senior official with the Communist Party of China (CPC), called on media outlets from BRICS countries on Monday to further strengthen cooperation and promote understanding and friendship between the people.

Media organizations should conduct regular exchanges and cooperation to build a base for information sharing and people-to-people communication in order to promote development of the partnership among BRICS countries, said Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau.

Liu made the remarks while meeting representatives from BRICS media organizations, who are here to attend the first BRICS Media Summit, to be held on Tuesday under the theme of "Innovation, Development, Cooperation and Trust",

He said BRICS, which groups Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, is an important force for international relations and a positive builder of the international system. It aligns with the trend of the times and benefits the people to form a BRICS community of common interests.

China is ready to work with other BRICS countries to deepen substantial cooperation in all areas and promote the establishment of a four-pronged partnership -- safeguarding world peace, boosting common development, promoting diversified civilization and strengthening global economic governance.

Representatives from BRICS media said media exchanges are an important part of BRICS cooperation. They hoped the upcoming media summit could further promote innovation, cooperation and mutual trust among the media and create a favorable condition for the BRICS cooperation.

The first BRICS media summit, initiated and hosted by Xinhua News Agency, draws more than 100 attendants from major media organizations of BRICS countries. Endi
