Chinese top legislator Zhang Dejiang and visiting Polish President Andrzej Duda exchanged views on bilateral parliamentary ties during a meeting in Beijing on Thursday.
Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said China's legislature is willing to enhance friendly cooperation with the Polish National Assembly.
At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Duba is paying a state visit to China. The two presidents held talks in Beijing on Wednesday.
Zhang said that the NPC is ready to work together with the Polish National Assembly to further the consensus reached by the two heads of state to boost their strategic partnership.
The two sides should also make joint efforts in promoting alignment between the "Belt and Road" initiative and Poland's national development strategy, according to Zhang.
Earlier this week, the Polish president attended the annual leaders' meeting of China and Central and Eastern European countries (CEE) hosted by Premier Li Keqiang in east China's Suzhou city.
Zhang stressed that China backs Poland playing a significant role in China-CEE cooperation and China-EU relations.
The legislatures can play a constructive role in improving the legal environment and laying a popular base for bilateral cooperation, said Zhang.
Duda spoke highly of China's development achievement, vowing that Poland wants to promote pragmatic cooperation with China and enhance parliamentary exchanges. Endi
