A total of 189 new cases of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection were reported in Hong Kong in the third quarter of 2015, bringing the cumulative total of reported HIV infections since 1984 to 7,534, Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection said on Tuesday.

The 189 cases comprise 167 males and 22 females.

The center's consultant Wong Ka-hing said sexual transmission remained the major mode of HIV transmission in Hong Kong. Endit
