U.S. cargo carrier makes emergency landing at Haneda Airport in Tokyo

Xinhua, November 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

A U.S. cargo carrier leaving from China's Shanghai for Memphis, U.S. made an emergency landing at Haneda Airport in Tokyo early Saturday due to fire alarm in the cargo hold, local media reported.

The carrier crash-landed at the Haneda Airport around 3:15 a.m. local time as fire detector installed in the cargo hold gave alarms, said the airport.

Airport staff unloaded the cargo and found wrappings of one of the containers had been burned and billowed smoke. Firefighters rushed in and extinguished the fire at about about 9:00 a.m. local time.

The carrier had four crew members on board, and none of them was hurt. The Tokyo Fire Department is making investigation to the cause of the incident. Endit
