Togo launches international trade fair

Xinhua, November 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

The 12th edition of Lome International Trade Fair kicked off Friday in the Togolese capital city, attracting more than 200 exhibitors from 25 countries.

Togolese Prime Minister Komi Selom Klassou presided over the opening ceremony of the trade fair.

The participants came from mostly French-speaking West African countries as well as Ghana, Egypt, Morocco, Poland, Pakistan, Italy, Germany and France, with Senegal as the guest country.

West Africa-based Chinese companies also participated in the fair, exhibiting products such as motorcycles, electric and home appliances and palm oil.

Meanwhile, the fair hosts for the fourth time a regional fair organized by the West African Economic and Monetary Union.

Senegalese Trade Minister Alioune Sarr said that the current Lome trade fair event is a milestone toward sub-regional integration and shows what remains to be done in the sub-region to strengthen trade relations and fast track the integration of African countries.

The Lome International Trade Fair is celebrating its 30 years of existence under the theme "renewable energy: source of progress and development." It has been suspended for some years due to social unrest in Togo. Endi
