Finland condemns attacks in Paris

Finnish President Sauli Niinisto Saturday condemned the terror attacks in Paris, claiming they "were a crime against everyone".

He said Finland would give all possible backing to France in the fight against terrorism.

In his written statement, President Niinisto presented his deepest condolences to French President Francois Hollande and the French nation.

Foreign Minister Timo Soini said there are people within Europe and in the wider world who hate the western system and the way of thinking.

"Our system is being challenged and an attempt is made to make us surrender. These forces must not be given supremacy and must not be honored," Soini said on national broadcaster Yle.

A series of terror attacks in different locations in and around Paris killed at least 140 people and wounded some 200, the deadliest violence in France since World War II. Endit
