Over 600,000 to attend bicycling event for Thai king's birthday

A total of 607,909 people have signed up for a bicycling event on Dec. 11 to celebrate the king's 88th birthday, which falls on Dec. 5, an official said on Wednesday.

According to permanent secretary of Interior Ministry Krisda Boonraj, 99,999 people from Bangkok, 498,105 from other provinces and 9,805 from overseas have registered for the event "Bike for Dad."

Outside Bangkok, the largest number of registered participants was reported in Nakhon Ratchasima province, followed by provinces of Sakon Nakhon, Kanchanaburi, Songkhla and Si Sa Ket.

On the afternoon of Dec. 11, the Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn will lead all bicyclists in Bangkok in a 29-km ride while participants in other provinces will start simultaneously. Enditem
