Italy-Belgium friendly to remember Heysel

Xinhua, November 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Heysel Stadium disaster will be remembered during a friendly soccer game between Belgium and Italy on Friday.

The names of the victims in one of soccer's worst stadium disasters will be read out one by one when the warmup game for Euro 2016 is halted in the 39th minute.

Thirty-nine people, mostly Italian, died during the European Cup final between Juventus and Liverpool after fans were crushed against a collapsing wall.

The game between the world top-ranked Belgium and four-time World Cup winner Italy will take place at the King Beaudoin stadium in Brussels.  Endi
