Macedonian cost of living falls in October

Macedonian living expenses fell by 0.5 percent on a year-on-year average, the Macedonian State Statistical Office reported on Monday.

Retail prices dropped by 1.2 percent when compared with October 2014, and were down by 0.2 percent compared to September 2015.

An increase was noted in some items including sugar, sugar products, honey, canned fish and pasta, whose prices rose by over 1 percent. Products such as fresh dairy and meat products inched up in price by between 0.2 and 0.4 percent on average.

Other product categories including footwear, furniture, solid fuels, medicine, tourism services, jewelry and education also increased in October 2015.

According to statistics, price reductions were reported in fresh fruits, 8.7 percent, followed by lower reductions in prices of fresh vegetables and dried fruit. Airplane tickets also dropped by 11.4 percent. Endit
