Benfica beat Boavista 2-0 in Portuguese league

Benfica defeated Boavista 2-0 on Sunday at Luz stadium in Lisbon to stay 3rd place in the Portuguese soccer league after the match.

Benfica now are 3 points behind FC Porto and 8 points behind leaders Sporting CP.

Benfica forward Goncalo Guedes opened the scoring with a nice goal after a beautiful pass from Nico Gaitan at the 38th minute.

Boavista was unable to penetrate Benfica's defense in the first half with zero shot.

Benfica forward Mehdi Carcela Gonzalez added the second goal of the match at the 89th minute with a left-foot strike from inside the box just seconds after they hit the goal post.

The win gives Benfica manager Rui Vitoria his 6th win of the season with the club since taking over in July.

Also on Sunday FC Porto defeated Vitoria FC while Sporting beat Arouca FC 1-0 just minutes before the end of the game. Endi
