Scrap-metal sculpture park opens in N China

A sculpture park that features art work made from industrial waste opened on Monday in Tianjin Municipality, north China.

Located in Tianjin Binhai Hi-Tech Industrial Development Area, Jiu Wu Zhi is the first park of its kind in China.

Covering 6,000 square meters, it features 19 sculptures made from scrap metal donated by firms in the area.

"We hope to promote low-carbon development through the arts," said Ni Xiangyu, director of Tianjin Binhai Hi-Tech Industrial Development Area administrative committee, "and we plan to have a national design competition every two years." Endi
