Lithuania receives 12 offers for purchase of military vehicles

Xinhua, October 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Lithuanian Defense Ministry announced Thursday it had received two new governmental offers from the United States and Poland respectively for Lithuania to purchase infantry fighting vehicles (IFV).

The new entrants mean that there are a total of 12 competing offers to bag the Lithuanian army's biggest ever purchase, according to local media.

The Defense Ministry has decided to conduct additional analysis on all potential purchases and postpone its decision till the end of November.

"We expect other companies that provided information earlier to send us revised data, which will allow us to evaluate the governmental and business offers," Lithuanian Defense Minister Juozas Olekas said in a press release.

The bidders list includes companies such as Germany-based ARTEC, U.S. and Canada-based General Dynamics Land Systems, the Swiss-made Piranha and Italian-made Iveco, among Turkish, Finnish and French models.

According to the Defense Ministry, the purchase procedure may take four to 10 months after the decision is made. Endit
