Chinese shares close lower Wednesday

China's stocks retreated on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index shed 1.72 percent to close at 3,375.20 points.

The smaller Shenzhen index fell 2.25 percent to close at 11,494.35 points. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, plummeted 3.07 percent to end at 2,485.24 points. Endi
