Nigeria's airspace remains open: official

Xinhua, October 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

Nigeria's airspace was open to flight operations, a top official with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) said on Monday.

The NCAA Director-General, Muhtar Usman, made the clarification in a statement made available to Xinhua in Lagos, the country's economic hub.

Usman said any notice of travel ban in the country was absolute falsehood, misleading and the handiwork of some mischief makers.

Two aviation trade unions had on Oct.21 threatened to go on strike following an industrial dispute they had with NCAA.

The unions are the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), and the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE).

They had directed their members to embark on an indefinite strike from Oct. 26.

The NCAA, however, said it had called the unions for a meeting over the issue. Endit
