Top three recovers familiar look after Spain's matchday 9

Real Madrid remain top of the BVA Primera Liga after the ninth round of matches in Spain saw them win 3-1 away to Celta Vigo.

Rafael Benitez's side had to thank goalkeeper Keylor Navas for the three points after the Costa Rican made a string of fine saves to deny Celta's attacking trio of Nolito, Fabio Orellana and Iago Aspes.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Danilo put Real Madrid 2-0 up before halftime and Celta's task looked hopeless after Cabral was set off for protesting early in the second half. Nolito gave them hope with five minutes remaining but Marcelo's injury time goal sealed the win for Madrid.

The table has a familiar look to it once again as FC Barcelona moved into second place after a Luis Suarez hat-trick on the anniversary of his debut saw them to a 3-1 win at home to a feisty Eibar.

The side with the lowest budget in the BBVA Primera Liga opened the scoring when Borja Baston took advantage of some shoddy defending after just 8 minutes.

Suarez scored the first goal of his hat-trick after an assist from Sandro Ramirez after 21 minutes and put his side ahead three minutes after the break.

He then sealed the win in the closing moments, just a minute after Javier Mascherano had been sent off for apparently insulting the linesman.

Atletico Madrid's new signings are beginning to function as Jackson Martinez and Yannick Carrasco opened the scoring in the first half.

A Paco Alcacer's penalty 18 minutes from time gave the visitors a lifeline, but Atletico held on to their lead to move third. It has not taken long for the top of the table to reclaim its familiar feel.

Real Sociedad boss David Moyes will breathe a lot easier after his side thrashed a hapless Levante 4-0 away from home. Carlos Vela, who scored his first two goals of the season, Imanol Agirretxe and Asier Illaramendi with his first league goal for the club, gave the Basque side their second win of the season.

New Las Palmas boss, Quique Setien's debut ended in a 0-0 at home to Villarreal, a result which sees Villarreal drop to fifth while Las Palmas remain in the relegation zone.

Kevin Gameiro hit a hat-trick as Sevilla demolished Getafe 5-0 in a game which saw the home side awarded and score three penalties. Gamero netted one, while Ever Banega and Yevhen Konplyanka scored the other.

Malaga also climbed the table thanks to their second win of the campaign, thanks to second half goals from Adanne Tighadouini and Juan Carlos, which helped see off Deportivo la Coruna 2-0.

It was only the second game in which Malaga players have scored this season and the win lifts some pressure off coach Xavi Gracia.

Granada boss Jose Ramon Sandoval, can't say the same, however, as his struggling team could only draw 1-1 at home to Betis. Granada should have won and but for a series of saves from Antonio Adan in the Betis goal, they would have sealed the win following Dimitri Foulquier's early opener.

Ruben Perez committed a ridiculous handball five minutes from time to allow Ruben Castro to level from the penalty spot.
