Oliveira: No contact with Barcelona

Veteran Brazil international striker Ricardo Oliveira on Sunday played down speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona.

Reports in Spain have claimed the 35-year-old Santos player could join the Catalan club in the January transfer window as cover for Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

"Santos fans, my teammates and the people at the club know that it's not true," Oliveira told ESPN Brasil. "I laughed. There hasn't been any contact, nothing."

Oliveira has scored 30 goals in 51 matches across all competitions for Santos this year.

Earlier this month he was handed his first international cap since 2007, scoring in Brazil's 3-1 World Cup qualifying victory over Venezuela.

Oliveira's career has included spells with Spanish clubs Valencia, Real Betis and Real Zaragoza. Endit
